"Building a network marketing business looks so simple on paper!"

If you have attended a business plan presentation for any of the many network marketing opportunities available, you would have seen a typical demonstration of a network as an interlinked chain of circles (independent businesses) through which product flows generating income.

Like me, you likely saw something in those circles that just made sense and it became a logical decision to get involved. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be debt free with a substantial residual income; the freedom to choose whether to work or not?

No job has ever offered these options has it?

On paper, how hard could it be? It only needed six key people in the plan I was shown. Maybe your plan was different? Maybe your plan called for twelve or eighteen key people...

The number is not important here and neither are the compensation plans. It doesn’t just take six, twelve or eighteen key people.

It actually takes hundreds... if not thousands of active people to build an organisation large enough to sustain a residual income.

"So if the dream is strong, does that guarantee my mlm success?"

We are told that it all begins with the dream or at least that was what I was taught. And when things don’t go as planned (as they never do by the way) then it just goes to prove that the dream simply isn’t big enough...Nonsense!

There are hundreds of thousands of good people with huge dreams of financial freedom, a better education for their kids; a million good strong reasons...

Yet they failed because of a 95% failure system taught them by their upline... I failed for the same reason.

It is a very small minority who can build successful mlm businesses despite the system and all power to you if you are one of those who have done so!

If you are reading this as one of those rare people who have built a profitable offline mlm business, I applaud you... Nevertheless, the dream for the majority of us is just a smokescreen...

"Now I know why people don't succeed in this business!"

The business building methods are still largely the same as were promoted from the beginnings of network marketing in the 1950's. In other words, they are old school.

These methods do not work because the system is flawed. This is obvious to anyone who takes the time to research the failure rate in the network marketing industry. The number is colossal.

Yes I understand that ordering products has been streamlined and can be done online. And there are companies who treat the world as a single, seamless global marketplace.

This is all good... but the core issue of committing the time, energy and money to building lists, making appointments, showing the business plan and following up, still remains.

Add to this the inherent fear and shyness of the majority of us at the prospect of 'hard selling' or even approaching anyone outside our warm circle of friends and acquaintances...

There is just no getting away from it with this network marketing model.
