“Too much time and money wasted, too many friendships strained; Clueless!”

I was clueless.

If your experiences are anything like mine, then you probably ran out of people to tell about your business in the second or third month of your involvement.

Friends and family received the initial attention. Then casual acquaintances, old school friends, business associates, the lawn mowing contractor, the woman at the checkout and so on.

Eventually you run out of names and it just becomes too hard and expensive to build a business this way.

Too much time and money is wasted, too many friendships are strained and too many embarrassing moments occur because none of our prospects were pre-sold on the idea of building a business.

You (and I) looked for all the world like amateur salespeople desperately peddling a second rate idea... Clueless.

Technology has moved on. The internet is now a way of life for lots of people. Just think of how many of your own friends and family communicate by email or text message nowadays.

Online communication programs like Skype and MSN Messenger allow you to see and talk live to friends and family all over the world.

Do you still receive as many Christmas cards as you once did?

People are busy and starting a business that involves committing lots of extra time and money is not the thing most people are looking for.

The chance to earn extra money is tempting, but the cost of running around showing the business plan to people who may or may not be interested does not make good financial sense these days.

I well remember driving 200 kilometres to show the plan to a couple who had recently emigrated from South Africa to New Zealand and that I had ‘prospected’ the previous week.

I arrived at their apartment on Auckland’s North Shore, to find them unpacking their belongings with friends, lots of kids running amok amongst the boxes, dinner not yet prepared...They were totally distracted and oblivious to what I had to say.

It was a bizarre situation to say the least!

Stories like this are common in the network marketing industry and they explain in part, the 95% failure rate.

I was clueless but I was in good company...

On yet another occasion, after ‘prospecting’ a couple in a lunch bar, I arrived at the arranged time to show them the business opportunity only to find their favourite program was viewing and they continued to watch television... while I drew out the circles.

They never heard a word I said...

For the network marketing industry, this is business as usual. There is little if any duplication because the people teaching the process are largely clueless on the subject of sales and marketing.

They only know what they have been taught and what they have been taught worked of a sort up until 1992, when the world wide web, personal computers and cell phone technology began to change the way business is conducted worldwide...

If you ask the average distributor who his target market is he will likely tell you that ‘everyone is a prospect!’

I have news for these distributors. Everyone is not your prospect and until that day arrives when people approach you to ask about your business, you are committed to sifting and sorting through lots of people to work with the few who may... or may not duplicate your efforts.

In real marketing, the customer chooses you. Your brand and your advertising have done their job. What’s that I hear?... Ka-ching?

All this business activity has to be funded from next to no income because we are taught that 'the products will sell themeselves' as a natural result of showing the business plan.

Those who don’t join the business will naturally become retail customers won’t they?...

Wrong again! We are so busy selling the business idea that we have no fallback position of creating a retail customer out of our ‘prospect.’

So we fail to make the money we need to grow our businesses...Clueless!

First and foremost, we network marketers need cash flow. This funds our business building expenses. The only way that cash starts flowing in any business is when somebody sells something.

I am going to show you how to build a business 24/7 via the power of the internet. By using an already available and proven system, your ‘prospects’ will contact you in order to hear more about your business.
